Depilatory treatments or waxing as it is more commonly known falls into three different categories; each having their own advantages
Strip Waxing
Hot Waxing
Roller Waxing
In order to help you make the right choice of system to use we have provided a brief description of each below.
S T R I P WA X I N G
This method incorporates the use of warm wax or other cre`me waxes which consist of rosins and oils and is available in jars or tins. It has a lower operating temperature to that of hot wax of approximately 43°C. The wax is applied as a thin layer using a spatula and is then removed with either a fabric or paper strip dependent upon the therapist’s preference. To be more effective,
it is advisable that the hair growth is at least a 1/4" long; this is probably the most popular form of waxing as it is quick and very cost effective
H OT WA X I N G
This is a method that incorporates the use of either hot wax pellets; used for many years to remove strong stubborn hair growth and consists of beeswax and resins and hot film waxes, available in blocks or tins, which have become available more recently and consists of rosin and plasticiders. The wax is solid when cold and has a higher melting point than that of warm wax with a working temperature of approximately 68°C. Hot wax is heated and applied in a thick
layer using a spatula, it is left on the area to be treated until it hardens and is then removed without the use of any strip. This type of waxing is used mainly for small areas such as the bikini line, eyebrows, lips, underarms and any areas where stubborn hair growth is found; it is a very effective on short hairs.
R O L L E R WA X I N G
This method of waxing is becoming increasingly popular due to its ease of use and the hygienic aspect of the system. The wax is similar to that of jar or tin wax consisting of rosins and oils and also works at the lower operating temperature of approximately 43°C. Wax is applied using a pre-heated cartridge which has a roller head attached (available in disposable or re-usable cartridges as required) and is applied by rolling the wax on to the area to be treated; it is then removed with either a fabric or paper strip. The system is ideal for mobile therapists as well
as the larger salon and spas as it is easily transportable, it is has a quick heat up time and very cost effective.

Making the right choice of wax can be daunting for some therapists when there are so many wax variations to choose from. In order to assist in this process we have put together a simple wax information chart which highlights the uses and advantages of each individual wax.
The waxes are based on Colophonium and Glyceryl Rosinate formulations which provide the strong adhesion qualities required for stubborn hair growth
